All of a sudden, my son seems to be fascinated with the freezer! I have to constantly police the kitchen, making sure that he’s keeping his hot little hands out of there so the food can stay frozen! This week, I let him experiment a little. He placed an almost-full cup of water in the freezer to see what would happen. He was amazed to find that the ice didn’t form all at once. The edges froze first, which allowed him to have some fun with this ice telescope:

 

Since it’s so hot, why not experiment in the freezer? Make homemade yogurt or juice pops, or freeze jello in ice cube trays. Have you tried freezing berries, suspended in ice cubes? The possibilities are practically limitless!
